Image Size Limitation - A problem

I purchased this software to reduce my Nikon D800 images (36 megapixels size) down to something easy to email, etc. The software has a 28 megapixel size limit on files it will attempt to resize - so most of my pictures the software skipped…… defeating the whole purpose of why I purchased this software. Restating what I just wrote: THIS SOFTWARE WILL NOT ATTEMPT TO REDUCE ANY IMAGES LARGER THAN 28 MEGAPIXELS. IT WILL JUST SKIP OVER THEM. I should have read the description closer - as it does state it in the description - it just didn’t register in my mind! My bad on that. Aside from the fact I cannot use it for the purpose of why I purchased the software - I did try this with smaller files I had with my older cameras. The speed and quality were great - I was able to achieve a 60-70% reduction in size with not noticable change in quality. Overall the software is great - I wish it could handle image sizes that the newer cameras are starting to bring out.

Quite the rip-off

This app only optimized my 32gb iPhoto Library by 2.1gb — definitely not worth the 20 bux for a measly 2gb of space? I could delete one mp4 file off my machine and open up the same amount of space this $20 rip-off cleared for me. Not a happy shopper here.

Absolutely Awesome!!!

If you want to save HD space, and who doesn’t, this is one of the absolutely easiest and highest quality ways to do it! Absolutely amazing how it reduces the size of your JPEG images yet visually there is no difference. Awesome job to the developers!!! Absolutely worth the $20...

Absolutely amazing.

Never thought Id spend $20 on a app and rave that its worth it, but it really is. So easy to use.

Space Saver for Image Fiends

Honestly, this app is just great. I use it almost weekly; whether to save HD space or to send manageably-sized images to others. It does what it says, does it exceptionally well, and the quality of the post-processed images is indistinguishable from the original to my eye (and you can always archive the original, larger versions if you need to). So far Ive shaved off 6.44 GB from my images, and counting. Im not a fan of $20 apps, but Ive never regretted this purchase for an instant.

Works as advertised….

Definitely reduces the size of files and so far I can’t see in difference in the quality of the image.

Needs to Keep Track of Work Already Accomplished

Works as advertised, but does not log pictures already reduced; ergo, you must run through all your photos from the beginning in order to reach the newer ones, which is hugely time consuming. For a large library, that can mean a day or more of continuous cycling. Not efficient. Also, JPEG Mini may be looping back into work already processed in the same session. I can’t say this for sure, however. JPM should show dates already worked so you can track where you are in the process and start from the end of your last session. Gave 3 stars, possibly 2 for what it could do but doesn’t.

Reduces Sizes, But Leaves Visible Differneces

After compressing an image, if I overlap the origional with the compressed, I can clearly see a difference. The compressed photos loose some of the finer detial and look blured compared to the original. It’s far from a lossless solution, it’s not much different than opening the file in a graphics program and re-saving with a higher JPEG compression ratio...

Does exactly what it says it will

The only flaw I’ve seen in this app is it doesn’t seem to be multi-thread aware. Aside from that it works fantastically and has never crashed on me. So far I’m up to 44GB of saved space.

Amazing!

We have had a digital camera since 2008. Our entire married life, the birth of our two children and eveerything between is on our iPhoto library. We’re terrible about deleting the bad photos so our library before JPEGmini was 127GB and contained 103k photos. This app reduced 56GB of storage off of our photos with no noticible loss in quality. Our Camera is a Canon Rebel 16MP camera (In its day, it was pretty awesome!) I saw a 1-2MB reduction per photo. Our newer photos taken on our iPhones showed less of a reduction but still significant. I would HIGHLY recommend this for anyone who has massive amounts of photos in a digital format.

Whats the deal with the tapstream adware?

Im a paying customer, i.e. no adverts in my app. Little Snitch shows me that this new version reports back to TapStream. What gives? How is this required to convert images? Bad move.

Don’t buy until it’s fixed...

I’ve had this program for quite a while now and it’s worked great but this lastest update is badly broken and won’t process any jpg files at all regardless of size. I emailed the support team but no answer from them for days and days now. Wait until another update comes out and whatever is wrong is fixed. For now, it just doesn’t work.

Works EXACTLY like it’s supposed to

A perfect little app — that’s how it’s been for me. I’ve had it for quite a while now and use it almost daily. Through all updates and iterations it has never failed to perform just like it should, both on my 2011 iMac and 2013 Macbook Air. Little updates pop up on a fairly regular basis; I’ve interpreted this not as an app that needs work, but rather as a committed, fastidious developer focused on perfection. I’ve been wanting to back up my photos in the cloud for extra insurance but didn’t want to pay for all that space if I didn’t have to. So I dropped my entire photo folder into the open app and let it do its thing. Now that it’s almost 4 times smaller, uploading to cloud storage is much more affordable (and faster to boot). Because of this, the app has already paid for itself. This has easily been one of my most satisfying App Store purchases. It’s a model of what good apps should aspire to be — polished, intuitive, and flawlessly functional.

Please add conversion to progressive jpeg

This is a good program, which has worked well for me. It would be very helpful if the developer would add an option for conversion to progressive JPEG’s. This would make the program perfect and earn 5 stars from me.

Excellent App!

Having a lot of photos, this really helps on saving space. If you are really looking or know what to look for as far as changes in picture quality you might see it. Other than that, I don’t see that much of a change in the photos except for the huge Gb in space saved. I would definately recommend this app if you have many photos!

Absolute favorite app

This has saved me a ton of money from the bandwidth I’ve saved.

Amazing app that saves you money

In the two years I’ve owned it, that stats show I’ve saved almost 1TB of space. Since I back up, that’s 2TB really. So this $20 app has saved me’ about $150 in storage space. Plus it also saves on cloud storage space.

only 28 mgpx No D800 support

I shoot with a Nikon D800 that a 36mgpx but this can only go up to 28mgpx which is a bummer. Yes i can scale down my picture to 28mgpx and it would work but sad that this $20 purchase dose not support the lastest cameras out there. Will not be changing my review untill they update this. Sorry guys but this is useless for my D800.

Great, but Slow

I ran all my photos on my computer through this (many older scans too), and saved 27 GB with no noticeable loss in quality. The program is simple to use and is great if you are limited on space (e.g., own a macbook air). Couple things… 1. I was worried that if I forgot and ran the same photo through twice, the program would compress again and thus lose quality. No worries. It remembers and won’t do it twice. It just skips those photos. 2. This is also the problem, if you add some photos to your iPhoto library but forget to run them through this program first, prepare to wait a long time (hours) as it looks at every single photo all over again. This is not a big issue if you are importing pictures from an SD card. Just run this app on them first. But what if they are on your iPhone? That’s trickier to figure out.

If I could give it zillion stars, I would...

This app saved my website so much bandwidth, and increased its speed by 30-40%. I went down from 7GB attachments down to 4GB in 3 hours (28,000 files). Amazing - no other words to describe it. I could get even better results with loosely compress the images, but I was too lazy since it requires more effort :)
